Emma Strugnell

Emma is a new addition to Niagara Lane Chambers, renowned for its dedication to criminal defence. 

Emma completed her undergraduate degrees and PhD in History at the University of Melbourne, before completing a Master of Laws (JD) at Monash University. Emma worked at Victoria Legal Aid prior to coming to the Bar, and appears in the Magistrates and County Courts in indictable criminal matters (committals, pleas, and trials). She was selected for the VLA Trial Counsel development program in 2020/2021 and is a VLA Preferred Trial Barrister.

Emma brings diverse experience across criminal defence matters, with a particular interest in fitness and mental impairment.  Outside law, Emma is passionate about classical history and architecture.
