Lachlan Hocking

Lachlan has extensive experience as a criminal defence advocate and practices in all areas of criminal law. He is also briefed in quasi-criminal law matters, including proceeds of crime litigation, disciplinary matters and regulatory matters.

After being admitted to practice, Lachlan worked at a boutique law firm in Melbourne where he gained invaluable criminal law experience. He then worked as a Senior Lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid’s Melbourne and Dandenong offices. He appeared as a solicitor advocate in summary, indictable and appellate matters in both the Magistrates’ and County Courts. Lachlan is experienced working in the specialist Drug Courts.

Since coming to the Bar, Lachlan has fostered a defence-only practice. He is surrounded by like-minded defence barristers at Niagara Lane Chambers whom he works closely with and is mentored by. Lachlan is driven by the desire to represent persons accused of wrongdoing by the State.
